Powdery and delicious snowball like cookies. Perfect for a last minute Christmas cookie. These cookies are super good and a good choice to make with kids.
These are one of the first cookies I ever learned to make and is one of my favorites. You can add crushed up nuts to them if you like, but I never cared for that. I prefer them “nutless”. Haha.
Anyway… these are so easy to make, that I’ll usually throw them in with all the other Christmas cookies I make. It’s an easy filler cookie, which is just as tasty as the more time consuming desserts. Really helps those cookie gift boxes look fancy and overflowing with treats.

Russian Tea Cookies (No Nuts)
Ingredients
- 1 cup of butter softened
- ½ cup confectioners sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla
- 2 ¼ cups flour
- ¼ tsp salt
- 1-1 ½ cups of confectioners sugar for dusting the cookies when done
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 400 degrees F.
- Mix butter and ½ confectioners sugar until light and fluffy. Add in vanilla,
- Add in flour and salt. Beat until combined.
- Cover and refrigerate dough for 1 hour until firm.
- Form into 1” balls and place on a parchment lined cookie sheet. Space about 1 ½” apart.
- Bake for 8 – 10 minutes, until lightly golden on the bottom. Let cool for about 5 minutes.
- In a square baking dish or large shallow bowl pour the 1 to 1 ½ cups of confectioners sugar.
- Roll the still warm cookies in the sugar till completely covered. Make sure you get the bottom of each cookie.
