Got some strawberries that will go bad soon? Eating pancakes tomorrow? Make a compote! A compote is a great addition to any sweet breakfast meal. From french toast to yogurt. Heck, you can even throw that stuff on some desserts!
This can also be made with a mix of berries or even frozen fruit. A compote is not quite a jam, but can be used the same way. The storing rate is different though, compotes are meant to be consumed quickly, not stored in the fridge for long periods of time.

Strawberry Compote
Ingredients
- 2 cups strawberries fresh or frozen
- 2 tbsp sugar
- 2 tbsp orange juice
- 3 tbsp water
Instructions
- If strawberries are fresh, chop into pieces.
- Place all ingredients in a sauce pot.
- Bring to a boil while stirring and turn heat to medium low.
- Keep stirring till mixture is thickened, while smashing strawberries. It should coat the spoon, about 6-8 minutes.
- Store in fridge.
