In-n-Out Burger won’t come to the Midwest, so in order to enjoy “Animal Style”, you have to make it yourself. Now In-n-Out doesn’t have a veggie burger option, but this is America and I do what I want.
The black bean burgers are pretty easy to make. It’s mostly made up of crushed black beans and brown rice. You can add peppers and corn if you have them. By adding more rice and bread crumbs you can play with the texture. The mixture shouldn’t be too wet or it won’t hold up when cooking.
Treat it as you would any beef patty. Use as a burger or serve with gravy and potatoes. A good and healthy source of protein for your Meatless Mondays. Goes well with Homemade Brioche Buns.
The Animal Style sauce is great on the black bean burger, but don’t forget it also goes well on fries!! Cook up extra caramelized onions for a richer flavor.
