Cute decorative cookies that you’ll have to fight the kids from eating. I always struggle with how to make a snowman for my gingerbread house. Then I realized I could just make it out of meringue! DUH. SO much easier.
Just a simple meringue cookie recipe, piped in the shape of a snowman! Use a round icing tip, as you would for macarons. Hold bag perpendicular and pipe a large mound, then a smaller one on top.
Decorate the snowman using edible markers or melted chocolate.
Meringues
Ingredients
- 4 egg whites
- 1 cup sugar
- Pinch of salt
- 1 tsp cornstarch
- ½ tsp cream of tartar or white vinegar
- 1 tsp vanilla
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 220 F.
- Whip egg whites and cream of tartar till foamy.
- Slowly add in sugar and cornstarch while still mixing on medium high.
- Add in vanilla.
- Whip till stiff peaks.
- Add meringue to icing bag with tip about ½ inch opening.
- Pipe out desired meringue shape.
- Bake for 90 minutes.
- After 90 minutes turn of oven and let meringue sit in oven an hour with door cracked open.
- Store in airtight containers, keep humidity out!
